Duhjari

The plains people of the Serha Plains, the original tribal people that Serenians mingled with to produce Adelans. However, Adela did not completely absorb the Duhjari and they still exist in the plains, at odds with the nation that encroached on their land. To this day, raiding parties wreak havoc on the borderlands of Adela.

The Duhjari are horse lords, famous for their powerful steeds. They are a patriarchal people with strict gender roles: women have their place and men have theirs, and men are in charge. They have olive skin and typically straight black hair, which they usually wear long. Horses are their livelihood, and because of that, they rather despise Adela's dragons, who often prey on their horses.

Because of the Duhjari's shaky relationship with Adela, Duhjari are not really welcome in Adelan cities and those that decide to visit them face a great deal of discrimination. They are often treated as criminals at best, watched carefully wherever they go and even scapegoated for crimes, and may face beatings or worse in some parts. Some Duhjari, however, can pass for Adelan, and those that can may have an easier time.
